Our Mission at KDC is to incorporate a play-based emergent learning curriculum that is child centered and teacher-guided. We use The Creative Curriculum with a Montessori foundational approach. A variety of strategies and modes will be offered throughout the school year using small group and individual learning, thematic, technological, experiential learning and creative arts. We believe that allowing students to take ownership of their learning they will build a positive self-concept creating a love of learning that lasts a lifetime!
We believe in using a child-centered teaching philosophy where our Kids will be Playing to Learn while learning to be: Confident, Respectful, Self-sufficient, creative thinkers and problem solvers. Playing is very important in your child’s social, intellectual, emotional and physical development. We will teach all of the children to have compassion and to care and respect others. We believe that children are smart, imaginative and eager to learn and that this is accomplished through kindness, consistency, guidance, patience, teaching, playing and lots of fun! We provide at home activities for families to work on together as a way of incorporating parents into their daily activities.
I do speak English and Spanish and encourage children to speak in any language they are most comfortable with. 85% of our core curriculum is taught in English with the other 15% taught in Spanish. Within our classroom environment we provide a multitude of visuals and manipulatives that incorporate races and cultural practices around the world. We incorporate food and special events from different cultures so that our children are exposed to many different races and traditions around the world.
We want our children to love and respect the world they are in! We provide a cozy environment with all of the perks of a preschool!
